Hotel Placement in the Housekeeping Department
Description
In general, the Housekeeping Department is often physically demanding and therefore acts as a deterrent for interns. However, it is a very important department in every hotel and acquiring experiences in this section does not only look good on your CV, it also helps you to value the hard work of the employees from the same angle of view and is needed to understand the hotel business.
The duration of the placement can be scheduled anywhere between 2 to 6 months.
Here you will help to clear up the rooms after the guests leave and to prepare it for the new arriving guests. Additionally you will work to have a tidy and pleasant atmosphere in the hotel with helping to clean and care for the hotel rooms and the hotel’s public and working areas. Likewise, you will restock room supplies such as drinking glasses, soaps, shampoos, writing supplies and the mini bar. Also, you will organise the work schedule from the room status list, arrivals and departures.
Requirements
Firstly, you are studying towards a degree in Tourism, Languages, Business Studies etc or doing training and have an interest in the hospitality industry. Further, you like to take care of the guests’ wellbeing. In general, if you decide to work for the Houskeeping Department, you should be open-minded and reliable. You have to focus on the customers and give attention to details. Especially a high energy level is essential. You are able to speak confidently in English and ideally have a basic level of Spanish but this is not mandatory.
